Born in Jamaica, Queens the youngest of four siblings, Lucy Creed attended Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Grammar School and Hillcrest High School.

She began her studies at St. John’s University as a Pre-med major with aspirations of becoming a Cardio-thoracic surgeon but God had other plans… She graduated with a BS in Education and began her career in Catholic School teaching Science and Religion at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Maspeth, Queens.  After a year, she left education and went to work for Psychology Today Magazine but the draw to teaching was too much and she returned to education the following fall teaching 8th grade Religion and Social Studies in South Jamaica.  Her love for Theology led her to an MA from St. John’s University in Sacraments and Liturgy.  After several years in the Catholic School system as a teacher and part time DRE, Lucy was drawn to Administration and became a Principal in Brooklyn.  To help her in her studies, she went to Fordham University and received an MS in Administration and Supervision.

In 1995, she met Father Greg when he hired her to be his DRE at Blessed Sacrament in Valley Stream where she remained for 12 years.  While at Blessed Sacrament, she along with the Youth Minister piloted an innovative Confirmation Program “Confirming Disciples” which challenged the youth of the parish preparing for Conformation to see the sacrament not as an ending to their faith formation but as a beginning to their rightful place as adult members of the Church.

Before coming to St. Frances she was at St. Anthony’s in Oceanside where she worked with the youth of the parish not only in Faith Formation but in Youth Ministry as well.  She directed the teens of the parish in a production of “Godspell” which she says was one of the most rewarding experiences of her ministerial career.

Lucy Creed is very happy to be here at St. Frances and looks forward to many years of ministry with this Parish community and its youth.
